How to Reach Magh Mela 2026

1. From Prayagraj Airport (IXD) – Bamrauli

  • Distance to Mela Ground: Approx. 18 km
  • Travel Time: 45–60 minutes
  • Transport Options:
    • Pre-Paid Taxi/Cab: Available just outside the arrival gate.
      • Estimated Fare: ₹800 – ₹1200 (Sedan/SUV).
    • App-Based Cabs : Service is available but can be unreliable during peak traffic.
    • Public Bus: UPSRTC AC electric buses often run from the airport to Civil Lines bus stand. From there, you can take an E-Rickshaw to the Mela.

2. From Prayagraj Junction Railway Station (PRYJ)

  • Distance to Mela Ground: Approx. 6–8 km
  • Travel Time: 20–30 minutes
  • Transport Options:
    • Auto-Rickshaw / E-Rickshaw: The most popular mode.
      • Reserved Auto Fare: ₹150 – ₹250.
      • Shared Auto Fare: ₹20 – ₹40 per seat (Drops you at the Mela entry ramp/Bandh).
    • City Bus: Look for buses heading towards Daraganj or Triveni Bund.
    • Walking: Many pilgrims prefer to walk the 6 km route to soak in the atmosphere, especially on main bathing days when vehicle entry is restricted.

3. From Other Stations

  • Prayagraj Rambagh Station: Closest to the Mela (approx. 3 km). Cycle rickshaws are easily available (Fare: ₹50–₹80).
  • Prayag Junction (NR): Located near the University, approx. 5 km from the Sangam area.

Travel Tips for Pilgrims

  1. Walk Heavy Zones: On main bathing dates (Mauni Amavasya), vehicles are stopped 2–5 km away from the Sangam. Be prepared to walk.
  2. Winter Clothing: January in Prayagraj is very cold (temperatures drop to 4°C). Carry heavy woolens, especially if you plan to take a dip early morning.
  3. Valuables: Crowds can be massive. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash or wearing expensive jewelry.
